Dense fog conditions persist in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi. Cold wave is also going on in these states.
Wednesday morning was accompanied by fog in 17 states of the country. The mercury was recorded at 4°C in Delhi. Air and rail traffic is affected here. 170 flights have been affected at Delhi Airport. These include both domestic and international flights. 20 trains reaching Delhi are also running late.
According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog and cold wave conditions will persist in Delhi NCR, Haryana and Punjab till January 18. Red alert has been issued.
There is an alert for cold wave and fog in UP-Bihar till January 18. Fog is expected in MP and Uttarakhand on January 17. There is a possibility of rain along with fog in the North-East states including Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh today.
Amidst the increasing cold, orders have been issued to keep private and government schools closed till 18th January in Lucknow till 8th. Schools from 9th to 12th will operate from 10 am to 3 pm.
The day in Patna, Bihar has been colder than Jammu and Shimla. While the maximum day temperature in Patna was recorded at 13.2 degrees Celsius, the day temperature in Jammu was recorded at 16.1 degrees Celsius.
