The national team champions won 18 colored medals (six golds, two silvers and 10 bronzes) at the launch of the tenth edition of the Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship, which was held at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
The Organizing Committee announced that the number of male and female players participating in the tournament has increased to 1,485 from 36 countries, in a record number for the Taekwondo championships that were organized in Fujairah and many countries of the world of the same classification (G2).
Kazakhstan’s male and female players managed to win the largest number of medals, with 28 medals (seven gold, six silver, and 15 bronze). Jordan’s clubs and centers won four medals (one gold, two silver, and one bronze), and Saudi Arabia won five medals (one gold and four bronze).
For his part, the tournament director and director of the Fujairah Club for Martial Arts, Nader Abu Shawish, told Emirates Today: “The technical level presented by the tournament is distinguished, and it provided a high competitive atmosphere.”
