Ahmedabad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday granted Indian citizenship to 188 Pakistani Hindus in Ahmedabad under the new Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Giving a historical reference of the CAA, Amit Shah said, ‘Crores of Indians cannot forget the issues faced by people during the partition on the basis of religion.’
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Amit Shah said the government is determined to grant citizenship to persecuted minorities, including Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs from neighbouring countries and also criticised the appeasement politics of the Congress-led India bloc.
Amit Shah said, ‘I congratulate the families who got citizenship. I am even more happy that this is happening in Gujarat. CAA is an initiative to give people their rights and justice. The Congress party never gave people their rights till 2014. Lakhs and crores of people kept waiting for their rights but they never got justice under the India Block.’
Amit Shah said that Congress did not give citizenship (CAA) to our people to please its vote bank. Our history will always remember this. What was the fault of these people who left their property and came here to save their daughters and wives? The law is for the protection of these people. This law will give justice to crores of Hindus, Jains and Sikhs.
