Kolkata. In the government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (RG Kar Hospital) in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, the mob vandalized some rooms and 18 departments. The police have arrested 19 people so far in this case. Kolkata Police posted on Instagram that 19 people have been arrested so far in the case of vandalism in RG Kar Hospital.
Five of them have been identified through social media feedback. Yesterday, the police shared pictures of the suspects allegedly involved in damaging equipment at the hospital (RG Kar Hospital). Kolkata Police posted on social media, “Information wanted: Anyone who can help identify the persons seen in red circles in the pictures below is requested to do so directly with us or through their local police station.”
He also shared a video seeking help in identifying the rioters seen attacking the barricades. A senior health department official said that there was heavy vandalism in the emergency room, staff rooms and medicine store on Wednesday and Thursday night. He said that almost all CCTV cameras were also broken.
He said a portion of the seminar hall where a woman doctor was allegedly raped and murdered was also vandalised and doors were damaged. Around midnight, a group of about 40 people posing as protesters entered the hospital and vandalised the emergency department, nursing station and medicine shop and also damaged CCTV cameras.
