When Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will soon enter Jammu and Kashmir, a development has taken place to give a boost to the party. 19 leaders who went with Ghulam Nabi Azad said goodbye to the Congress party and returned to the Congress fold. 17 leaders covered themselves with Congress scarves in an event held at the party headquarters in Delhi on Friday (January 6). AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal cordially invited them into the party. Senior party leader Jairam Ramesh said that the two leaders could not come due to personal reasons. Soon they will also join the Congress.
It is known that former MP and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad left the party three months ago and founded a new party named ‘Democratic Azad Party (DAP)’. All these leaders who went with Ghulam Nabi to Jammu and Kashmir returned to the Congress fold before two months passed. Among them are former deputy CM of Jammu and Kashmir Tara Chand and former president of PCC Pirzadi Saeed.
KC Venugopal said that it is a pleasure to have these additions when Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will enter Jammu and Kashmir in two weeks. He said that with the success of Bharat Jodo Yatra across the country, all the leaders who had left the party wanted to come back.
‘All these leaders are considered to have gone on Congress vacation for 2 months. This is just the beginning. There will be more additions once the Yatra enters Jammu and Kashmir,’ said KC Venugopal.
Will Ghulam Nabi Azad also be invited to Congress..?
When media representatives asked whether Ghulam Nabi Azad would also be invited back to the Congress, KC Venugopal refused to respond. He said that all those who have faith in Congress ideologies have been invited to Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Tarachand said that he had to leave the Congress party due to emotion and his friendship with Ghulam Nabi Azad. We have been in Congress for 50 years. We understand that we cannot be in DAP,’ he said.
