Meanwhile, the Al Jarida newspaper reported, citing officials, that the rate of drug smuggling into the country has increased significantly in recent years. More than 3,000 people have been arrested in the past year in connection with drug trafficking, according to the report. A large stockpile of drugs was recovered from them. Last year, the Kuwaiti police seized 1700 kilograms of hashish from Kuwait. One crore drugs, 30 kg of heroin and 200 kg of methamphetamine were seized from various places last year.

Of those arrested in connection with the drug case, 1,500 were nationals, 800 were stateless prisoners and 300 were Egyptian nationals. The rest are from Syria, Lebanon, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. A total of 566 expatriates have been deported from Kuwait in connection with drug cases. They were arrested and deported from Kuwait for drug use and possession of small quantities of narcotics that are not in the criminal case category. The death penalty is the strongest punishment for drug trafficking in Kuwait.
