Chandigarh: Joginder Sharma, the Indian bowler who won the T20 World Cup in 2007, has announced his retirement from all format cricket. That last over he bowled in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup will forever remain an unforgettable moment in every Indian cricket fan’s heart.
Pakistan needed 13 runs to win in the last over. Captain Dhoni handed over the responsibility of throwing the over to Joginder Sharma. Wide bowled and started the over. Misbah-ul-Haq hit a six off the second ball. On the third ball, Misbah would have scooped the ball and was caught by Sreesanth towards fine-leg. With that, the Indian team will win the World Cup by 5 runs.
Joginder Sharma became famous through it. However, that was his last international match. He played for Haryana from 2002 to 2017. It is noted that he played for the Chennai Super Kings team in the IPL arena from 2008 to 2012. He has played 4 T20Is and 4 ODIs for the Indian team. Currently serving as Senior Constable in Haryana State Police.
