Mubarak Al Menhali, Technical Director at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said that the participation of the national youth team in the Jiu-Jitsu World Cup, which will be held tomorrow in Zadar, Croatia, gives the players the opportunity to interact strongly and gain experience by facing an elite group of Jiu-Jitsu players participating in the tournament, in line with the Federation’s strategy to focus on the youth and junior category, support them and develop their levels.
The national team delegation arrived in Croatia yesterday to participate in the second edition of the championship. This is the fourth international participation for the team this year, as it succeeded in defending the title of the eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship for the fourth year in a row, in addition to participating in the Jiu-Jitsu Grand Prix Championship in Thailand, and the West Asian Championship hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The championship will witness the participation of more than 350 male and female players from 24 countries, while the national team delegation includes 21 players: Obaid Al Ketbi in the under 52 kg weight, Saeed Al Nuaimi and Salem Al Qubaisi in the under 62 kg weight, Ahmed Andiz and Harb Al Hammadi in the under 69 kg weight, Abdulrahman Al Salah and Salem Salah in the under 77 kg weight, Abdullah Al Darmaki and Dhiyab Al Junaibi in the under 85 kg weight (under 18 category), Zayed Al Hammadi and Hamdan Al Najjar in the under 52 kg weight, while Hamdan Al Dhaheri and Hazza Al Kaabi compete in the under 56 kg weight, Saif Al Ameri and Mansour Al Kaabi in the under 62 kg weight, Youssef Al Khoury and Abdullah Andiz in the under 69 kg weight (under 16 category), Saud Al Balushi in the 36 kg weight, Maid Al Hosani in the under 40 kg weight, and Khalfan Al Qubaisi and Ahmed Al Ketbi in the under 48 kg (under 14 category).
