The cycling team completed its participation in the Arab Track Championship, which concluded the day before yesterday in Cairo with the participation of more than 150 male and female athletes, representing eight Arab countries. The UAE champions won 28 colored medals, eight gold, 11 silver, and nine bronze.
During the last day of the tournament, the national team succeeded in achieving 11 colorful medals, with two gold medals for Mohammed Al Mutaiwee and Abdullah Jassim, in the aluminum and scratch races, under the leadership of the national team captain Ahmed Al Mansouri, who participated in the two races and won two bronzes.
The team also succeeded in adding four silver medals through Safia Al Sayegh in the individual pursuit, Ahmed Al Mansouri and Saif Mayouf in the adult Madison race, and Yousef Amiri and Khaled Al Nuaimi in the Madison youth race, while Youssef Amiri scored a silver in the individual pursuit.
The adult team added a bronze for the team speed race, as well as a bronze for the youth team speed, and a bronze for Zahra Hussein in the individual pursuit.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cycling Federation and Chairman of the Teams Committee, Mansour Bouasiba, stressed the importance of the results achieved by the UAE team in the championship, pointing out that every Arab championship in which the team participates seeks to discover new riders, who will become an addition to the team in the upcoming Arab and continental championships.
