Mumbai: Pujara has set a new record by crossing 12,000 runs in first-class cricket played in India. With this, he became the second Indian batsman to achieve this feat.
Pujara is one of the senior players in the Indian team. He has been playing international cricket as a regular batsman in the Test team. He played 98 Test matches and scored 7014 runs. This includes 19 centuries and 34 fifties. His batting average in Test cricket is 44.39.
He is currently playing for Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy series in India. He completed 12,000 runs against Andhra Pradesh on Friday. With this, he became the 2nd Indian player to cross 12,000 runs in first-class cricket at home. Wasim Zafar is at the top with 14,609 runs.
Pujara has scored a total of 56 centuries in first-class cricket. Of this, 36 percent were registered in India.
Before the Test series against Australia, he is scheduled to play in the Ranji match against Tamil Nadu. He played 20 Test matches against Aussies and scored 1893 runs. His batting average against that team was 54.08.
