Competitions for three sports will begin today, as part of the activities of the first Gulf Youth Games “Emirates 2024”, hosted by the Emirates, and whose competitions began yesterday, and will continue until the second of next May, with the slogan (Our Gulf is one…our youth is promising), as the sailing events begin on Breakwater at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club will host 12 races in boat categories (Optimist, Alka 4, and Alka 6), with the participation of 48 male and female athletes aged between 11 and 18 years. Athletics competitions will also begin today, which will continue until the day after tomorrow, at the Dubai Police Officers Club, during… During the same period, athletics competitions for people of determination will also be held, as part of Paralympic sports, at the Dubai Police Officers Club, while the taekwondo competitions, which started yesterday, will be completed in the hall of the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.
For its part, the Boxing Federation announced the selection of 19 players in the national team list that will compete in the tournament, which begins on April 23 and 24, at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The team is led by the national coach, Muhammad Al-Shibli, and the technical staff includes: coach Kahkhasan Makhmudov and assistants Adel Al-Ashry, Qasim Al-Barout, and Mahmoud Al-Assasi.
The team’s players participate in nine weights, as Ahmed Al-Marashda and Omar Amiri participate in the 45 kg weight, Ahmed Al-Mansouri and Sultan Mohsen in the 51 kg weight, Hamad Al-Jabri and Rashid Al-Badawneh in the 54 kg weight, Ali Sharif and Badr Al-Sidrani in the 57 kg weight, and Ahmed Al-Rashdi, Tamim Al-Mehaidar and Saif Ahmed in the 60 kg weight, Abdullah Al-Shehhi and Zayed Al-Saadi in the 67 kg weight, Badr Al-Kaabi and Rashid Al-Ali in the 71 kg weight, Omar Al-Ali and Ibrahim Al-Abdouli in the 75 kg weight, and Muhammad Al-Barout and Muhammad Al-Kaabi in the 80 kg weight.
Al-Shibli said in press statements: “The team is currently participating in an internal camp at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, which began on the first of this month and ends next Saturday. A group of players have been selected to participate in the final camp, after a tournament was held for the same age category in Fujairah last March. The tournament was an important milestone for the Boxing Federation and the technical staff to choose the best elements to represent the country in the tournament.”
He explained: “Boxers will have a very good opportunity to interact with high levels of the game at the Gulf level, at a time when the players will become the true nucleus of the first team in the coming years.”
In turn, the technical committee for the 3×3 basketball competitions completed preparations for the launch of the competition on April 27 and 28 at the Al-Thiqa Club hall for the disabled in Sharjah.

Noura Al Jasmi: 24 players ready for “Badminton”
The Badminton Federation announced the readiness of 24 players, both male and female, to participate in the competitions that start the day after tomorrow, in the hall of the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.
President of the Badminton Federation and member of the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee, Noura Hassan Al Jasmi, said: “The team is ready to participate in the most prominent sporting event at the level of the Gulf countries.”
She pointed out that the male and female players benefited from the internal camp, which was held before the start of the tournament, and from the training that was held at the “Extra” and “Pioneer” academies in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Al Jasmi expressed her hope that the UAE players, male and female, will achieve the expected results and win gold medals, and benefit from holding the tournament in its first edition on the UAE stadiums, as well as benefit from the public presence that will stand behind the UAE teams in various games.
Football matches postponed
The organizing committee announced the postponement of the football matches held in Abu Dhabi, which were scheduled to start yesterday, between the national team and Oman, and Bahrain and Kuwait, due to the weather condition the country is experiencing and in order to ensure the safety of the participants.
The committee said in a statement: “The date will be determined later, and it was also decided to postpone the coronation of the winners of the taekwondo competitions in the tournament held in Fujairah until today.”
The Police Sports and Shooting Club hosts the “Triathlon”
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al Suwaidi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Police Sports and Shooting Club in Ajman, announced the holding of a meeting with officials of local authorities, to agree on the arrangements for the triathlon championship held within the course. Al Suwaidi confirmed the readiness of the facilities of the Police Sports and Shooting Club in Ajman to host the tournament, which includes three competitions: running, cycling, and swimming, which will be held on Al Zorah Beach.
