Kolkata. Protests are continuing after the rape and brutal murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court also heard the case and made strong comments on the police administration.
After the harsh statements of the court, Kolkata Police has taken action. Now the news has come that three police officers have been suspended for failing to stop the vandalism at RG Kar Medical College Hospital. Kolkata Police has suspended two Assistant Commissioner rank officers and an Inspector. According to the information, all three have been suspended for failing to stop the vandalism at RG Kar Medical College Hospital.
These officers have been held responsible for not taking appropriate steps to stop the goons. Departmental inquiry will also be initiated against the officers. While hearing the Kolkata rape-murder case on Tuesday, Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that we are unable to understand how the state government could not handle the issue of vandalism in the hospital (RG Kar Hospital).
The court asked what will the Bengal government do about the principal? Why was there a delay in filing a murder case? Why did the police not protect the crime scene? Why were thousands of people allowed to enter? Why was the principal made to join another college? The Supreme Court has expressed hope that with the deployment of central security forces in the hospital (RG Kar Hospital), the doctors will return to duty as soon as possible.
