Several states in the United States plan to provide direct financial assistance to their citizens in September with the purpose of helping them with their economic needs.
Below, we mention three states that will carry out this measure:
1. Washington State
Families and individuals who meet the requirements will be able to obtain up to $1,200 in tax credits from this state.
The deadline to request this tax credit is December 31 and you will be asked for your Social Security number or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN), a copy of your federal tax return and other personal information.
2. Minnesota
The state has been giving out a tax refund since mid-August, and some people may still qualify.
The refund they can obtain is up to $1,300 dollars.
Married couples filing jointly with income of $150,000 or less could receive up to $520.
People who file taxes individually and have $75,000 in income or less per year could receive up to $260.
They will also receive $260 for each dependent, up to a maximum of three.
3. New Mexico
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico implemented tax refunds for local citizens and provided economic stimulus payments to those not required to file tax returns.
Married couples filing jointly are eligible for a $1,000 tax refund.
Individuals who file separate tax returns, whether single or married, are also eligible for a $500 refund..
Eligible New Mexico residents who filed their 2021 income tax return will automatically receive refunds.
The deadline to file the return is May 31, 2024.
