The organizing committee of the Emirati-Qatari Super Cup announced the launch of the second edition of the tournament by holding four tournaments to be held during the month of next January, consisting of four matches that bring together Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Nasr, Al-Wasl and Al-Wahda from the Emirates against Qatari teams: Al-Rayyan, Qatar, Al-Sadd and Al-Wahda, respectively.
According to what was announced by the organizing committee of the tournament, which started last year with only two tournaments that brought together the champions of the league and the President’s Cup, the committee changed the format and name of the tournaments this year by adopting four matches that brought together the season’s champions in the two countries.
The first edition of the tournament witnessed the crowning of the Qatari Al-Arabi Super Cup, which was held in Qatar after defeating Al-Sharjah, while Shabab Al-Ahly won the Emirati-Qatari Super Cup, which was held in the Emirates, at the expense of Al-Duhail.
The tournaments will begin over 4 consecutive days, starting on January 16, 2025, with the Shabab Al-Ahly team, runner-up in the ADNOC Professional League, facing Al-Rayyan team, runner-up in the Qatar Stars League, in Doha, in a tournament called the Challenge Shield.
On January 17, the UAE’s Al-Nasr will face the runner-up of the President’s Cup, the Qatar team, and the runner-up of the Qatar Emir’s Cup, in the Super Cup tournament, which will be held in Dubai. As for the Super Shield, it will be held in Doha, facing Al-Wasl team, champion of the ADNOC Professional League, against Al-Sadd, the holder of the Qatar Stars League title.
The tournaments will conclude on January 19 with the Challenge Cup and a match between Al Wahda, champions of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, and Al Wakrah, champions of the Qatar Cup, in Abu Dhabi.
The tournament organizing committee published an introductory video for the tournaments under the title: “The UAE and Qatar have a long history that extends from sea to land…to a present that has become the destination of the world, the talk of the world, and an image that tells the story of success, prosperity, growth, and urbanization.”
