Chennai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets in the IPL T20 cricket series. It was the 4th win for CSK.
CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to field in this match which was held yesterday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepakkam, Chennai. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed just 134 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Harry Brook scored 18 runs off 13 balls with 3 fours as Akash Singh caught Ruduraj Gaekwat off the ball and took the lead. Another opener Abhishek Sharma scored 34 off 26 balls with one six and three fours before Jadeja was dismissed.
Rahul Tripathi, who played consistently, took Jadeja on 21 runs off 21 balls, with a six each and a boundary. Skipper Aiden Markram fell to Thikshana on 12 off 12 balls. Heinrich Klassen 17, Mayank Agarwal 2, Washington Sundar 9 runs. Marco Jansson remained unbeaten with 17 runs off 22 balls. For CSK, Jadeja bowled 4 overs and conceded 22 runs and took 3 wickets. Akash Singh, Deeksana and Pathirana took one wicket each.
Hyderabad scored 76 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first 10 overs. But the team managed to score only 58 runs in the last 10 overs. 5 wickets were taken during this period. The CSK spinners took advantage of the nature of the pitch and restricted Hyderabad’s run accumulation to a great extent. CSK bowlers collectively bowled 10 overs and conceded 62 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. At the same time, Pathirana put pressure on the fast bowler by showing more differences in his delivery.
Batting with a target of 135 runs, CSK scored 138 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 18.4 overs and won by 7 wickets. Conway was unbeaten on 77 off 52 balls with 12 fours and a six. Moeen Ali added 2 runs.
Earlier Ruduraj Gaekwad was out after scoring 35 runs off 30 balls, 2 boundaries. Ruduraj Gaekwad added 87 runs in 11 overs along with Daven Conway for the first wicket. Ajinkyarahane scored 9 runs and Ambati Rayudu scored 9 runs.
It was the 4th win for CSK. With this, it continues to be 3rd in the points table with 8 points. Rajasthan and Lucknow are the top two teams in terms of run rate with 8 points each. This was Hyderabad’s 4th defeat.
Having played 6 matches, the team continues at the 9th position with 4 points with 2 wins.

CSK captain Dhoni has set the record as the wicket keeper who has taken the most catches in men’s T20 cricket. Dhoni achieved this feat yesterday by catching the ball bowled by Markram in a Deeksana ball against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dhoni has taken 208 catches so far. Quinton de Kock (207) and Dinesh Karthik (205) are next in this category.
