Oman will not be celebrating the country’s 53rd National Day on a grand scale this time. There will be only military parade and flag hoisting ceremony. The Omani authorities had already announced that the programs would be curtailed.

Indian Social Club Oman Kerala Section organized Children’s Day celebration. Mrs. Sreevidya Ravindran, Secretary, Children’s Department, welcomed the event at the Indian Social Club Hall, Darsite. Convener Shri Santhosh Kumar presided. Well-known author of Oman Mr. Haroon Rasheed inaugurated the program.
Dances, songs and skits performed by Balavedi children are the main attraction of the event. The children’s day rally was also colorful. Also, as part of Children’s Day, pictures drawn by children were displayed in the hall. The program received a very good response from the children and parents. Prizes were given to all the children who participated in the program. The inauguration of the music band started for the friends of Balavedi was also held at the same venue. As a part of it, Nadanpattu and instrumental fusion was staged as the first event. Organizers said that this year the Children’s Day celebration was very extensive with children from the age of 4 to the oldest participating in each event.
Mr. Riaz Kottapuram, Joint Secretary of Children’s Department, also registered the official vote of thanks for the program. Children’s Day celebration is organized on a grand scale every year since the establishment of the Kerala Division.
