The work of saving people is going on. NDRF teams are deployed at the spot. Four people including two girls were taken out. The girl is reported to have died on the way to the hospital.
This accident happened due to excessive digging of the foundation of the adjacent building. A gym was running in the building that collapsed. There was panic on the spot due to the collapse of the building. The building had a gym on the upper floors and offices on the remaining floors. According to eyewitnesses, the building suddenly collapsed during the excavation of the basement. About 20 people are feared buried under the debris.
At the same time, according to the information received, the body of a young man was also taken out from the debris on Sunday morning. The youth was identified as Abhishek. It is being told that he had gone to the gym in that building. A case has been registered against both the owners regarding the building accident in Mohali, Punjab. A case of culpable homicide has been registered against Gagandeep and Parvinder. Army and NDRF teams have started the rescue operation.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is monitoring the situation over phone from the district administration. As per the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister, Army troops from the Western Command have also been requested to step up rescue operations. It is suspected that many people were inside the gym at the time of the accident. According to information received from sources, the gym was open when the accident occurred.
