The national cycling teams participating in the Arab Track Championship in Cairo won nine colorful medals during the first day of the championship, which began the day before yesterday.
The championship competitions will be held at the Cairo International Raceway over three days, with the participation of 150 cyclists from eight Arab countries, and the national teams participate with a delegation that includes 26 cyclists from various categories.
The medals came in two golds, four silvers and three bronzes, as Abdullah Al Hammadi won the first gold in the championship, as well as first place in the men’s points race, while Saif Mayouf came in runner-up and won the silver medal. The adult team also won the gold in the team pursuit race, continuing its lead in the adult races.
Yousef Amiri and Khaled Al Nuaimi won a silver and a bronze in the youth points race, Safia Al Sayegh succeeded in winning a silver in the women’s 500 meter race, and Hoda Hussein came in third place and won a bronze medal in the same category, while Zahra Hussein succeeded in achieving a bronze medal in the women’s elimination race. The youth team won silver in the team pursuit race.
