The product range includes not only maternity wear products but also baby essentials, toys and books. Both mother and baby wear and combo packs of essential items are in great demand.
Started with two people, Pucci is now a team of 30 employees. Their business started in March 2020 with an Instagram page featuring 10 feeding outfits. A good response would boost confidence and encourage more investment.
They later launched a full Shopify website for Pucci. Deepika owns a company called Pucci Maternity Solutions in Coimbatore.
Deepika’s husband, Thyagarajan was working in real estate in Australia. Deepika also came to Australia after her marriage. In 2019, the couple decided to return to India. Deepika was pregnant at that time. Despite having a good income in Australia, both of them wanted to start their own venture in India. Deepika’s husband had an MBA in marketing, though neither of them had any business background.
The idea behind the maternity brand is that there are few comfortable fashion clothes available to young women during pregnancy. Deepika discussed the idea with her husband and both decided to venture into maternity wear fashion. Initially, the two bought cloths from local shops in Coimbatore.
Deepika later designed the dresses herself and got them stitched from a known tailor shop. The brand was also given the name Pucci, as he fondly calls his son. In Korean, ‘puchi’ means ‘life energy’. Now Puchi is the energy of their life. The venture has become a huge hit within a short span of time
