According to the statement made by the Ministry of National Education (MEB), Minister Tekin, speaking at the protocol signing ceremony held at the MEB Head Teacher Hall, stated that they have made a serious effort to raise awareness about vocational high schools in recent years.
Tekin emphasized that they have been trying to develop vocational high schools in line with the needs of the sector and new business areas since 2014 and said:
“In this context, we have made very serious regulations regarding vocational high schools. While doing this, we actually have two goals. One of them is that the students we educate do not only receive theoretical education, but also engage in practice, and on this occasion, we prioritize creating the needed workforce. Our second priority is vocational education.” “We are trying to make vocational high schools attractive to our students who do not prefer high school. We are also making efforts to provide guidance to our students who we want to choose vocational high school in terms of both employment and new business areas. These were our main motivational elements in the steps taken regarding vocational high schools after 2014.”
Reminding that in 2014, within the scope of vocational education, they legislated to provide support of 1/3 and 50 percent of the minimum wage to students who want to receive workplace training, Tekin said that vocational high schools have reached a certain format and that they have started to create thematic vocational high schools in almost every field needed by the sector. transferred.

Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, in his speech, drew attention to the importance of the studies carried out on vocational high schools and made the following statement:

Underlining that all sectors and the labor market in Turkey should attach importance to vocational high schools in order to meet the need for qualified manpower, Güler stated that the excuse of the sector such as “I cannot find personnel” has now disappeared in terms of the human resources trained by vocational high schools.

The signed protocol aims to support the training and employment of qualified manpower needed by the defense industry in schools to be determined in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of National Defense, or in schools to be opened in the facilities allocated by the Ministry of National Defense.
With the protocol, which covers the opening of schools on the Ministry of National Defense campus or in the facilities allocated by the Ministry of National Defense, and the delivery of completed schools to the Ministry of National Education and their integration into education and training, it is aimed to prepare the certificate programs and face-to-face and digital education materials in the field education programs in line with the needs of the Ministry of National Education.
In addition, the protocol includes organizing on-the-job in-service training for field teachers, equipping workshops and laboratories based on new technologies, and giving workshop and laboratory courses by teachers and experts.
With the protocol, which aims to provide students with workshop and laboratory training at the workplaces of the General Directorate of Military Factories (AFGM), General Directorate of Shipyards (TGM) and Machinery and Chemical Industry Inc. (MKE), as well as vocational training and internship opportunities in the enterprise, scholarships are given to students in line with the determined criteria. It aims to provide training material support, to support the employment of students who graduate from schools within the scope of possibilities in accordance with the procedures and principles determined by the Ministry of National Defense, and to organize awareness activities for vocational and technical education.
