A deadly goal qualifies Sharjah and excludes Al Jazeera from the cup

Sharjah qualified for the semi-finals of the President’s Cup football competition by defeating Al Jazira 2-1 yesterday, at Sharjah Stadium, noting that this match came a few days after the last match of the two teams in the 18th round of the ADNOC Professional League, which ended with Al Jazira winning 3- 2.

The match was heading for a draw before Brazilian Caio Lucas scored the goal in the fatal time «92» to lead his team to a valuable victory, and Sharjah will face its counterpart Ajman in the semi-finals, after the latter qualified for this stage by defeating Al-Bataeh 2-1.

The two teams started the meeting with great enthusiasm and quick attacks in search of the first goal in the match, and during the first quarter of an hour Al Jazira threatened Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani with more than one shot led by Ali Mabkhout and Ashraf Bin Sharqi.

On the other hand, Sharjah seemed the best and most in control of the course of the game, especially in the last part of the first half, during which he exerted intense pressure on Al Jazira goalkeeper Ali Khasif, but he missed focus and the final touch, and Brazilian Caio Lucas wasted more than one chance in front of the goal that he could have scored. Before the end of the first half, Sharjah came out ahead with a clean goal scored by Brazilian Luan Pereira (49). With the start of the second half, Al-Jazira equalized the score through Romanian player Florin Tanassi «59», after receiving a pass from Ali Mabkhout.
