Our national jiu-jitsu team achieved a distinguished tally of medals in the youth category (under 21 years) at the conclusion of the activities of the eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship. In total, the team has succeeded in achieving 59 medals since the start of the tournament on May 3rd, as the adult team succeeded in achieving 18 medals, through which it maintained the title for the fourth year in a row, while the youth and junior teams succeeded in achieving 41 medals.
The sons and daughters of the Emirates shined remarkably in the under-21 category, raising the UAE’s tally in the junior and youth categories to 41 colored medals: 11 gold, 8 silver, and 22 bronze.
The team’s players were able to win 4 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze on the final day of the tournament, and those crowned with gold were: Faisal Al-Wahidi, weighing 69 kg, Aisha Al-Shamsi, weighing 45 kg, Farraj Al-Awlaki, weighing 85 kg, and Ammar Al-Hosani, weighing 94 kg. The silver medals were won by Maryam Al Ali, weighing 45 kg, Shamma Al Balushi, weighing 48 kg, Mahra Mahfouz, weighing 63 kg, and Fahd Al Hammadi, weighing 77 kg, while the bronze medals were won by Sarah Al Otaiba, weight 70 kg, Balqis Al Hashemi, weight 48 kg, and Al Anoud Al Hosani, weight 57 kg. Rashid Al Shehhi weighed 56 kg, and Sultan Hassan weighed 69 kg.
