A flash mob in support of Russians has started on social networks with the hashtag #stophaterussians #stophatingrussians (eng. “stop hating Russians”).
Users record videos in which they encourage others to think about what is happening.
“There is no need to hate Russians based on their ethnicity. It doesn’t matter where you are from, all nations and religions must live in harmony,” the flash mob participants say.
According to them, no one deserves to be bullied on social media.
“No matter what language you speak or what nationality you belong to, no one deserves to be bullied online. Stop the hatred towards the nation,” emphasize people from all countries.
Users point out that “hate speech has no place in this world.”
Earlier, on March 5, a mass rally in support of Russian-speaking citizens took place in Berlin, the capital of Germany. More than 300 people gathered in the square in the city center. They accused the German authorities of the fact that Russian and Russian-speaking citizens have recently been subjected to persecution in Berlin and other cities of the country.
The protesters noted that not only “official” aggression is growing, but also the everyday level of intolerance towards Russians. The audience emphasized that they are accused of absolutely everything, attacked, broken windows in cars or refused to serve in restaurants.
Russian human rights ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova said on February 27 that some Russians abroad face harassment from foreign citizens. She noted that “people who are just doing their job, trying to live in difficult conditions, support their families, are attacked because of their nationality.”
