The Sharjah team won the Asian Handball Club Championship, in an unprecedented historical achievement, after defeating the Saudi Gulf team (the defending champion) with a score of (27-26), today, Saturday, in the final of the 27th edition hosted by the Qatari capital, Doha.
Al-Sharjah presented Emirati handball with its first historical achievement in the Asian Club Championships, Champions League, in a process through which the “King” crowned his career in this tournament, after he had achieved, throughout his previous participations, the bronze medal twice in a row in the 2018 and 2019 editions.
Sharjah had a strong start to the match after its players were able to advance by two goals at the end of the first half (6-4). However, Saudi Gulf quickly regained their balance and succeeded in equalizing the score and then taking the lead at the end of the half by two goals (13-11).
At the beginning of the second half, the Gulf players succeeded in pulling away with the result and setting a difference of four goals at the end of the half, but Sharjah’s determination showed a great desire to win in the last minutes and returned the result so that its players succeeded in equalizing, deciding the match in their favor in the last minute and crowning the title.
