An Oregon man named Colin Davis McCarthy decided to do something very generous while driving on the state’s I-5 freeway. He threw $200,000 in $100 bills out of his car window to share his fortune with others..
The money McCarthy threw out his car window was obtained from bank accounts he shared with his family.
McCarthy’s relatives reported to the Oregon State Police that after withdrawing the funds, he virtually left them with no money..
A police report confirmed that someone made a call to the police to report that a man was throwing money from his car on the freeway.
When questioned by police, the man told them he had thrown $200,000, though the amount was not confirmed by officers.
All the people who saw the money on the ground took about an hour to collect the bills.
The Oregon State Police lieutenant said in a statement that passersby did a good job of cleaning everything up.
This caused heavy traffic, as people were getting out of their vehicles to grab a ticket or more.
“The northbound lane was bumper-to-bumper traffic that went on for miles with people exiting and re-entering the freeway from the shoulder and searching (for tickets) on the ground,” one person said, according to with Hollywood Unlocked.
Because it was at night when McCarthy was throwing the money from his car, the cops ordered him to stop. And it is that he was endangering the lives of the people who were running down the highway to collect the money.
