He American lawyer Kenneth Darlington (77 years old) has been accused of having murdered two environmental protesters in Panama.
Last Tuesday, Darlington calmly approached a group of people blocking the Pan-American Highway in the Chame sectorprotesting a proposed mining contract for a Canadian company for the exploitation of a copper mine. The video of the murder has gone viral on social networks in the last few hours
According to local sources, the confrontation began when Darlington saw protesters blocking roads. After getting out of his vehicle, he asked to speak with the leader of the demonstration. The discussion intensified when Several men tried to calm him down.
In the video, you can see the elderly individual confronting the protesters with a gun in his hands. Seconds later, without any consideration, he opened fire, hitting one of those present at the scene, who falls to the ground injured.
After the shooting, Darlington returned to his vehicle. Trying to flee, he urged a woman who was accompanying him to leave the place, but she called the policewho ended up stopping the vehicle and confiscating his weapon.
The man, with dual American-Panamanian citizenship, faces murder charges and illegal possession of a firearm. Furthermore, he had already been arrested for illegal possession of an AK-47 and an M16 in 2005as reported by the Daily Mail.
