NoA massive theft has taken place in the Telangana Grameena Bank branch in Bussapur, Mendora Mandal, Jamabad District. The robbers broke into the bank after midnight by cutting the shutters with a gas cutter in the style of a July movie. All the accused wore monkey masks and looted the property. Along with cash of Rs.7.30 lakh, gold jewelery worth Rs.3 crore was taken away. The lockers in the bank were also cut open with a gas cutter. In this process, a fire broke out and some cash was burnt. Important files are also burned.
The police found that the thieves entered the bank from the BSNL office, which is located next to the Telangana Gramin Bank branch. The thieves cleverly first destroyed the alarm sensor in the bank and committed the robbery. The incident took place on Saturday midnight and came to light late as Sunday was a bank holiday. The bank officials said that the stolen gold ornaments were pledged by the farmers for loans.
Police took this case seriously. A Special Investigation Team under the supervision of Armor ACP is probing the case. This is the first time in recent times that a bank robbery has taken place on this scale in Telugu states. Police believe that an interstate gang of robbers is at work. After the theft, the thieves also took away the CCTV camera DVR.
Police and clues team collected evidence from the scene. The thieves seized the used masks. He asked the officials and got the details. Attempts are being made to identify the accused by looking at the CCTV footage of the bank where the robbery took place.
