US tech giant Google is testing a new tool that uses artificial intelligence to produce news stories.
Informed sources said that this tool, known as “Genesis”, can produce an integrated press article after obtaining the required information, according to the “New York Times”.
Google introduced its new product to US media, including the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
One of the three people familiar with the new tool also said that Google believes the tool can serve as a personal assistant for journalists and help the publishing industry move away from generative AI.
Some executives briefed on Google’s proposal described it as “disturbing,” while two people said the process of producing accurate and original news stories seemed like a reality.
This new tool comes at a time when news organizations around the world are debating whether to use AI tools within their newsrooms.
