Crises related to crowd riots continued at the European Nations Cup, the most recent of which was in the Turkey-Georgia match, crowd riots before the match and a clash between fans, but matters escalated after the German authorities warned of a possible terrorist attack during the Euro 2024 tournament, according to what was published by the Financial Times newspaper.
The newspaper reported, quoting the head of the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Thomas Haldenwang, who said in an official statement: “The likely scenario is a large-scale coordinated attack, similar to the one we recently witnessed in Moscow.”
German Interior Minister Nancy Weiser said that Germany during Euro 2024 is under fire from ISIS-Khorasan Province and its Afghan wing.
The latter recently posted an illustration with the caption “Score the last goal”, showing a gunman carrying a gun on a football field, which clearly indicates their intentions.
The French authorities, on whose territory the Summer Olympics will be held, had previously announced possible terrorist attacks in the tournament, which begins with the opening ceremony on July 26.
The final of the European Nations Cup in Germany will be held next July 14 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
