A Alcabón PP councilor (Toledo) has submitted his resignation after his indictment and subsequent imprisonment this Sunday for a alleged crime of concealment in the accident of a woman that occurred this Thursday in Val de Santo Domingo, as reported by the La Mancha city council in a statement.
“The Alcabón City Council informs that Mr. Iván Merchán Villa, councilor of this city council since June 17, 2023, has presented this Sunday, June 1
October, the voluntary resignation of his position for personal reasons,” they explain in a text made public this afternoon on the Facebook page managed by the municipality and in which, in addition, “we show him all our support and provide him with all the help that he need.”
Hours after the resignation of the Popular Party councilor was announced, the Alcabón City Council has called for a minute of silence for this Tuesday to remember Sandra, the woman murdered in the accident on Thursday. It will be at 6:00 pm in the Plaza de España in the municipality of La Mancha.
Prison for the husband of Sandra, the murdered woman
The Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Torrijos (Toledo), acting as guard, has decreed provisional detention announced and without bail for the two men arrested for their relationship with the fatal hit-and-run of Sandra, the woman killed in the hit-and-run accident four days ago in the Toledo town of Val de Santo Domingo.
After taking their statements, both detainees were ordered provisionally detained without bail, given that AMGF, 45 years old and the victim’s husband, is provisionally charged as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of homicide in the area of gender violence, and the other detainee, IMV, 43, is provisionally charged as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of concealment.
The accusations will be finalized throughout the judicial investigation and it will be the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 1 of Torrijos, with jurisdiction over gender violence, that will instruct the procedure, reports the EFE agency.
After lifting the secrecy of the summary established last Friday, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha has confirmed this afternoon the sexist nature of Sandra’s crime and has announced that it will appear as a private prosecution.
