Cloth masks are useless in protecting against the Omicron strain of coronavirus. Liana Wen, professor of health policy and management at George Washington University, expressed this opinion on December 24.
“Cloth masks are nothing more than face decorations. They have no place in context [распространения] “Omicrona,” she told CNN.
She recommended wearing a three-layer surgical mask that is most likely to protect against a new strain that is more infectious than other versions of the virus.
“You can wear a fabric mask over a surgical one, but not one of them,” the expert emphasized.
On the eve of the general director of the company “Clinical Excellence Group”, candidate of medical sciences, immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov said that due to the special infectiousness of the “Omicron” strain, it is better to revaccinate every four months.
For revaccination of the average adult, Kryuchkov recommended using the drug “Sputnik Light”. For elderly people who need more reliable protection, he advises choosing the Sputnik V vaccine.
A large-scale vaccination campaign is underway in Russia. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
