- Three liters of petrol was distributed free of cost from this pump
- The move comes amid rising fuel prices
- The goal is to help drivers in distress
The Perla Kudukoli pump in Kasaragod provided free petrol and diesel to auto drivers from 6.30 pm on Monday. The pump is located at a distance of 5 km from Sardarka in Karnataka. It is the border area of both the states. Petrol and diesel worth Rs 1 lakh have been distributed to 300 auto drivers from this pump.

The petrol pump owner explained that the petrol was given for the benefit of the community and not for business promotion. Petrol and diesel were priced at Rs 97.70 and Rs 93.11 per liter respectively. Auto drivers who were distressed by the lockdown could not afford the daily increase in fuel prices and were given free fuel.
Knowing that the fuel was provided free of cost, the drivers even came within a 15 km radius of the pump. One driver says he has not been given a pump, petrol or diesel for free during his 37 years of driving career. Although it costs a liter of diesel to travel, one driver says he is glad he got two liters for free.
