A new report revealed the volume of commercial transactions that take place via bank cards.
The report issued by the Cash Center stated that the merchants and electronic shops involved in the center recorded a total of 135.3 million transactions using Moroccan and foreign bank cards.
According to the same source, the value of transactions made using Moroccan and foreign bank cards amounted to 58.8 billion dirhams during the first nine months of 2023.
The center’s report on monetary activity in Morocco pointed out that the activity of merchants and electronic shops increased by 24.6 percent in terms of the number of transactions and by 26.5 percent in terms of financial value compared to the end of September 2022.
The electronic payment activity with Moroccan bank cards recorded a significant growth of 21.8 percent in terms of the number of transactions, reaching 23.8 million transactions at the end of last September, and by 17.2 percent in terms of financial value, reaching 7.6 billion dirhams.
As for electronic payment activity with foreign bank cards, it increased by 57.8 percent in terms of the number of transactions to reach 1.4 million transactions, and by 91.2 percent in terms of financial value to reach 1.2 billion dirhams.
