The Leninsky District Court of Tyumen sentenced the owner of an electric scooter who drove it while intoxicated. This is reported by the regional prosecutor’s office.
It was established that in December 2021, a 27-year-old Tyumen resident on an electric scooter was stopped by law enforcement officers. His state of intoxication was recorded on the spot and confirmed by a medical examination, writes Megatyumen.ru
During the hearings, the court recognized the electric scooter as a motor vehicle equivalent to mopeds (category “M”). A resident of Tyumen was charged under Part 1 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Driving a motor vehicle by a person in a state of intoxication.”
The court sentenced the man to a one-year suspended sentence with a two-year probationary period. For two and a half years, he has no right to drive vehicles.
As the Ura.ru news agency clarifies, an aggravating circumstance was also the fact that a year earlier, a Tyumen resident had already been brought to administrative responsibility for refusing to undergo a medical examination. Then he was sentenced to a fine and deprivation of rights for one year and seven months.
On June 14, in Tyumen, a nine-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl crashed into a foreign car on an electric scooter. Someone left a personal mobility device in the yard without turning off the app. Children with injuries were hospitalized.
