The Board of Directors of the UAE Football Association, headed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, approved Tuesday, September 24, as the date for the draw ceremony for the President’s Cup for the 2024-2025 season at Space 42 Arena on Al Raha Beach in the capital, Abu Dhabi, at 6:30 pm.
The Football Association said in a statement that the selection of Space42 Arena comes as it is one of the most important and newest landmarks in the capital, Abu Dhabi, as it is located in a strategic location, specifically in the Al Raha Beach area, in addition to being a vibrant cultural hub, where international and local cultural events meet in a unique way.
This came during the Board of Directors meeting, which was chaired by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, and attended by his first and second deputies, members and the Secretary-General. The meeting witnessed the discussion of the items on the agenda and a number of decisions were taken.
The Board of Directors of the Football Association appreciated the great role played by Emirati football fans during the matches against Qatar and Iran in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, while praising the efforts of the national team players in the two previous matches.
The Federation’s Board of Directors stressed that the national team needs more moral support and backing from its fans and the local media before facing the North Korean and Uzbek teams next month, and that the rally around the team should be at its best, especially during the remaining matches of the qualifiers.
It was also emphasized that all reasons for success will be provided to the youth and junior teams in the qualifiers for the Asian Cup, which will be held during the months of September and October, as well as continuing to provide moral support to our clubs participating in external tournaments, whether the AFC Champions League Elite for Al Ain and Al Wasl, the AFC Champions League 2 for Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah, and Al Nasr in the Gulf Clubs Championship.
The Board of Directors approved doubling the financial rewards for age group competitions and championships in the current season with the aim of increasing competition between participating teams.
