Meanwhile a car comes and stops in front of Keith’s house. He saw Dicky pull up and lower a large bag. Seeing the t-shirts worn by those people, he understood that they were delivery agents and that the bag contained food items. While he was wondering if anyone in our colony had a wedding or auspicious work, the calling bell rang.
When you open the door, there are huge boxes of food like chicken sandwiches, shawarma, shrimp dishes, ice creams, chili cheese fries, etc. While Keith was looking at them in surprise.. these orders are all yours sir’ said the delivery boy. ‘Has my wife bought and ordered all these for her friends..?’ Keith thought again.
He put all the food inside and received the phone. As he was about to dial his wife, the calling bell rang again. This time another car was parked. Food parcels are being brought down. ‘What are..?’ – asked Keith innocently. The delivery boy said all the names of the food items.. these are all your orders sir. While talking to him, the phone in his hand was ringing loudly. ‘Your food is ready’ and ‘your food is being delivered’ are repeatedly getting messages. Mom Baboy.. what is going on? Opening the phone, the bank account is already empty.
Thinking he was playing games, Keith’s son ordered a large amount of food using Grubhub (an online food delivery platform in the US). He ordered food worth 1,000 dollars (Rs. 80,000 in Indian currency) at once.
Do you know what the boy said when asked why he did it?
When Keith understood the matter.. he went to his son and woke him up.. ‘What did you do with the phone?’ He shouted impatiently. The boy who couldn’t stop sleeping.. ‘Dad.. did the pepperoni pizzas come?’ He asked again. Hearing those words, Keith laughed heartily despite his anger.
‘My anger level was 9.5 out of 10 when this incident happened. The next day it was down to 8. Now down to 3. However, I don’t find it funny now. Because the money I lost was a small amount? How can I laugh with you? How can you tell children that they will get so much money if they work hard..?’ Keith wrote.
Keith spoke to his son Mason the next day and tried to convince him of what a big mistake he had made. The little girl got tired and said, ‘I don’t know all that, father’. Laugh again? Crying..?!
The thing that gave Keith solace in this whole episode was that when his post went viral and got noticed by Grubhub, the company gave him a $1,000 voucher as a gift. Remembering his son’s feat, Keith can now smile with some relief.
‘It’s a funny story with a wonderful ending. I can’t stop laughing’ commented a user. ‘Children make our lives more fun and interesting!!’ Another user commented. Sounds true..?!
