Handwara: Parvez is a student from Handwara area of Kashmir. He is a 9th standard student in a government high school in Navkam. He was involved in a fire accident at a young age and lost one leg. However, the curiosity to read alone is a little unrelenting. Even if one leg is lost in an accident, one leg is enough. He was determined to continue studying. For that, 2 km daily. He started going to school in the distance every day.
In an interview with a news agency about the Vida initiative, 14-year-old Parvez said: I go to school in the distance every day. But the road to school is not good. If I get a prosthetic leg, I can walk too. I dream of achieving something in life. ”
Parvez added, “Kashmir Social Welfare Department officials gave me a wheelchair. But getting in a wheelchair on a dilapidated road was very difficult. So, I walk on one leg. Two km. When you walk the distance and reach the school, the whole body is healed. However I will pray when I go to school. I like games like cricket, volleyball, kabaddi. I am hopeful that the government will help me to better shape my future. My preference is to be a doctor. The fire to achieve that goal is burning in my soul. ”
When I saw friends walking with 2 legs, I was tormented that I could not do that. But, Allah has given me all the strength. I thank him for that. I ask the government to provide me with the right prosthetic leg. Parvez says it would be better to arrange alternative transportation to or from school. Praise for him is accumulating on social media.
