British media confirmed that Arsenal will get a strong morale boost to sign the most important deal it seeks next summer, after Brighton came close to signing a Syrian player.
And the British newspaper, the Evening Standard, reported that Brighton came close to contracting with the Syrian Mahmoud Daoud in a free transfer deal from Borussia Dortmund.
She added that the player, who holds both Syrian and German nationalities, is a good option for Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi to compensate for the possible departure of a number of prominent midfield players.
She indicated that Arsenal has been chasing Caicedo since the last winter transfer window, while Argentine McAllister is also close to leaving Brighton next summer.
De Zerbi admitted that he admired the 27-year-old Syrian player, stressing that the official contract had not yet been completed.
