The incident took place in Visakhapatnam where a foreign young woman called the police through the Disha app and got protection. A young woman from Zimbabwe is studying PG in Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Another foreigner misbehaved with her. Due to this, the affected student called Disha’s app and asked her to save her. The police reached the victim’s location within just 5 minutes and secured her. The victim was staying at Krishna College in Muvvalavanipalem by renting a room. A young man from Zimbabwe went to the young woman’s house around midnight on Wednesday (October 4) and behaved inappropriately. When she turned back, he abused her with vulgar language. The victim called the police through the Disha app made available by the Andhra Pradesh government for the protection of women in times of emergency. The police reached the victim’s residence within 5 minutes and saved her from the clutches of the youth. The accused was detained. Later, on the advice of the young woman, the young man was given counseling and sent away. The victim said that she had downloaded Disha’s app on her phone last year while she was studying at Andhra University. She said it served as a shield for her when she was alone in the middle of the night.
