New Delhi. The results of by-elections held on 13 assembly seats in 7 states of the country will be announced today. Voting was held recently in Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. After the counting of votes, the results have started coming in.
AAP’s Mohinder Bhagat has won from Jalandhar West seat of Punjab. Mohinder Bhagat won by 37 thousand 325 votes. Bhagat managed to take a lead more than the total votes Congress got in Jalandhar West assembly constituency during the Lok Sabha elections. A big upset is seen in Himachal and Madhya Pradesh. Congress is leading on all seats in Himachal and Congress is leading in Madhya Pradesh as well.
In the fourth round of counting, JDU’s Kaladhar Mandal is ahead of independent candidate Shankar Singh by 5053 votes. In the fourth round, Kaladhar Mandal got 4865 votes, Shankar Singh got 4180 and Bima Bharti got 4367 votes. While NOTA got 413 votes. DMK candidate Anniyur Siva is ahead of his nearest rival PMK’s C Ambumani by about 5,000 votes.
On AAP’s lead in the by-election, Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that I want to thank the people of Jalandhar West. I am confident of retaining this seat with a big margin. People are with AAP. We are working for the people of Punjab and in their favour… Congress made a big mistake by imposing emergency in 1975. They had to pay the price for it. Now BJP will have to pay the price for its efforts to change the Constitution.
