The Abu Dhabi Modern Sailing Team opened its participation in the “Aura Cup” competitions – “Optimist category” on Lake Lagarda, Italy, by achieving advanced positions within the top 30 in the first round, the day before yesterday, while it competed in the second round yesterday, leading up to the conclusion of the championship today, Monday.
The results of the races during the three days of the championship are calculated for the participants, which witnessed the number of competitors increasing to 535 sailors representing more than 30 countries.
The competition began yesterday by dividing the participants into different fleets, as the beginners’ fleet includes 85 sailors, and the advanced sailors’ fleet includes 450 sailors according to age groups.
The Abu Dhabi team will continue its training camp in Italy until August 20th after the end of its participation in the tournament, as part of the plan to prepare for the new season and enable the club’s players to acquire advanced skills and competitive capabilities.
It is noteworthy that the Abu Dhabi team list consists of Abdullah Al-Zubaidi, Hamad Al-Muhairi, Khalifa Al-Rumaithi, Dhiyab Al-Muhairi, and Zayed Al-Hosani.
