Today, the Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team will begin the fourth round of the Formula 2 World Championship in the Italian city of San Nazzaro, with a best time race with the participation of 22 boats.
The Abu Dhabi team, led by Rashid Al Qamzi, who won the title last season for the fourth time in its history, and Mansour Al Mansouri, a promising player in this category, are participating with the aim of defending the title this season.
The best time race, which starts today in three stages, is an important point in the competition in this round, along the San Nazzaro River for the third season in a row.
The competitions begin today with a meeting with the competitors to explain the most important laws and regulations, then the free trials phase for the participating boats begins, and the best time qualifiers will be held later.
The previous rounds witnessed various fluctuations, as Rashid Al Qamzi came in third place in the overall standings with 32 points, while Lithuanian Edgras Ryabko topped the overall standings with 36 points, and Swedish Matilda Wiberg came in second with 32 points.
The head of the Abu Dhabi team mission, Nasser Al Dhaheri, said: “The speed race is a great opportunity for us, based on the results in training, in addition to our focus throughout the past period on preparing the boats for the current participation.”
Al Dhaheri expressed his confidence that the time race will be in favour of the Abu Dhabi team stars, before the start of the main race tomorrow, and said: “We have achieved several titles at Lake Saint-Nazaire in Formula 1 and Formula 2 races in the past.”
