The Abu Dhabi Powerboat Team is participating in the fourth round of the Formula 2 World Powerboat Championship, which is being held in the Italian city of San Nazzaro, this weekend, over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The mission will leave at dawn today heading to Italy, headed by Nasser Al Dhaheri, and includes the competitors Rashid Al Qamzi and Mansour Al Mansouri, in addition to the team’s technical and administrative staff.
Technical inspection and registration procedures are scheduled to begin tomorrow, before moving on to the best race on Saturday, and the main race next Sunday.
Salem Al Rumaithi, General Manager of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, renewed his great confidence in Rashid Al Qamzi and Mansour Al Mansouri and their ability to provide an outstanding level in the fourth round, saying: “We have great confidence that Rashid Al Qamzi will be able to return with a positive result and remain in the heart of the competition. He is currently the best among all the competitors in terms of numbers, as he is the world champion four times in this category, and he has a permanent presence on the podiums.”
The championship competition has entered a sensitive stage with the Abu Dhabi team, led by its star Rashid Al Qamzi, trying to defend last season’s title. Rashid Al Qamzi – on the Abu Dhabi 1 boat – is currently in third place in the overall standings, with 32 points, while Lithuanian Edrigas Ryabko leads the overall standings with 36 points, and Swedish Matilda Wiberg is in second place with 32 points as well.
Mansour Al Mansouri is also participating with the aim of improving his position in the competition, as he is currently in sixth place in the overall standings with 16 points, and has a chance to advance in the overall standings of the championship.
