Abu Dhabi: Sotrovimab treatment is effective in preventing deaths due to Kovid infection. Abu Dhabi Health Department officials said 97 percent of the cases had been completely cured. The release of the second phase of Kovid treatments in the UAE, the first of its kind in the UAE, was announced. The new findings show that the drug can effectively prevent post-coital diseases. The UAE Ministry of Health and Immunization has now released the results of the treatment, which was carried out in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and the Dubai Health Authority from June 30 to July 13. Within two weeks, 6175 patients had been given the new drug, officials said. Of these, 52 percent were over the age of 50 or suffering from diseases including cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Ninety-seven percent of them recovered within 14 days. None of the patients died. Ninety-nine percent did not need an ICU stay, the report said. Sotrovimab is given to adults, pregnant women and children over 12 years of age who are at risk for developing Kovid. Monoclonal antibody sotrovimab is injected into patients 30 to 40 minutes by intravenous drip. In most cases, the drug manufacturers claim that this will allow patients to leave the hospital within 24 hours.
