New Delhi: Congress Lok Sabha Speaker Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary has refused to be included in the One Nation One Election Study Group headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress Lok Sabha Speaker Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the 15th Finance Committee, N.K. Singh, former Lok Sabha General Secretary Subhash Kashyap, senior advocate Harish Salve and former Central Anti-Corruption Bureau chief Sanjay Kothari have been appointed by the Central Government yesterday.
Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary refused to be included in this committee. In his letter to Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard, Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge has been excluded from the group and alleged that former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has been joined in his place.
The letter said, “The sudden attempt to impose the constitutionally dubious and practically impossible idea of One Country One Election on the nation months before a general election raises grave concerns about the ulterior motives of the government. That is why I fear this panel is blind.”
Also the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha has been ignored in this committee. Ignoring him is a deliberate affront to parliamentary democracy. In such a situation, I have no option but to decline your invitation,” said Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
