AC Milan was crowned champion of the Italian Super Cup, today, Monday, after a difficult victory over Inter Milan 3-2, in the final of the competition at the First Park Stadium.
Milan succeeded in achieving the title for the eighth time in its history, equaling the record of its traditional rival, Inter Milan, and only one title behind Juventus, the most successful team in the competition in its history.
This title became the first for the team’s new Portuguese coach, Sergio Conceicao, who took over the job only a few days before the start of the tournament in Riyadh, where he succeeded his compatriot Paulo Fonseca in the position, who took over the team’s training at the beginning of the current season.
Milan had won the semi-final against Juventus 2-1, after losing by a goal, which they repeated in the final of the tournament against Inter Milan.
Inter Milan took the lead in the first minute of stoppage time through top scorer Lautaro Martinez, before Mehdi Taremi added the second goal in the 47th minute.
Milan returned to the match after Theo Hernandez scored a goal to reduce the difference in the 52nd minute, before equalizing through Christian Pulisic in the 80th minute.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Tammy Abraham scored Milan’s third goal.
