Agra22-year-old Agniveer Shrikant Kumar Chaudhary committed suicide by shooting himself with a government INSAS rifle in the Air Force campus located in Shahganj police station area. Shrikant Chaudhary’s body reached his ancestral home in Ballia on Thursday morning. The incident is said to have taken place at 1.30 am on Tuesday night. The police was informed by the Air Force station at 7 am on Wednesday.
When the body reached Narayanpur Pachrukhiya village of Revati police station area, the youth of the village brought the body to the house shouting slogans like ‘Shrikant Bhaiya Amar Rahe… Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega, Shrikant Tera Naam Rahega…’. At the crematorium, the Bihta Air Force team gave the last farewell to the Agniveer comrade by giving him a guard of honor. Elder brother Siddhant Patel lit the funeral pyre. The soldiers who brought the body told the family members that the cause of Shrikant’s death will be known only after the postmortem report comes. The investigation is still going on.
Inspector Shahganj Amit Maan Singh said that on Wednesday morning at 7 o’clock, information about Agniveer’s suicide was received from the Air Force station. Agniveer had shot himself in the middle of his forehead with a rifle. On Wednesday afternoon, Agniveer’s family reached Agra from Ballia. The family told that they had talked to Shrikant a day before. He seemed normal while talking to the family members. It did not appear from anywhere that he was under stress.
Let us tell you that Shrikant Chaudhary was recruited in Agniveer in December 2022. Six months ago, he was posted at the Air Force station in Agra. On June 3, he came home on leave and joined duty again on June 13. Family members told that Shrikant Chaudhary was on sentry duty. This is the second incident of suicide in the Air Force campus. In 2019, the body of Squadron Leader Himanshu Singh, a resident of Moradabad, was found hanging in the residence. After his death, his family members had made serious allegations.
