Modi, who will inaugurate the Baps Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, will address the Indian diaspora at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium today. The temple will be inaugurated tomorrow after the reception organized by Ahlan Modi. Modi, who will be the chief guest at the World Government Summit in Dubai, will deliver the keynote address. The Prime Minister will also meet UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Due to unstable weather and heavy rains, a red alert has been announced in the country on Tuesday, but the organizers believe that there will be no change in the reception program at the stadium. More than 65,000 people have registered for admission. They have been instructed to enter the stadium before four o’clock in the evening. More than 1,500 expatriate volunteers from the UAE are working to make the event a success.
Jitendra Vaidya, president of Indian People Forum and organizing leader of Ahlan Modi, hopes that Ahlan Modi will be a very special event given by the whole Indian diaspora. K Mahinder Reddy of IPF, a community organization in Dubai, said a large number of NRIs would attend the event to welcome Modi. BJP’s N Devender Reddy said that a good portion of the non-residents participating will be the youth of Telangana’s NRI community.
The National Meteorological Center has requested people to be extremely alert as thunderstorms and heavy rains are likely to continue today till Tuesday afternoon. Yesterday too there was heavy rain and thunder in the country. In colder areas like Al Ain, there was continuous hail for an hour. Work from home has been implemented in offices and schools across the country. Parks are closed in Sharjah. It is also advised to reach the airports early.
