Users of the Airbnb online rental service from Russia and Belarus can no longer use the company’s services. This was announced on Monday, April 4, in a message posted on the website of the service.
“Airbnb has suspended operations in Russia and Belarus. This means that bookings for accommodations and experiences in Russia and Belarus have been discontinued, and guests from these countries will no longer be able to book anywhere.
It also clarifies that all bookings from these two countries starting on April 4 and later are cancelled.
Earlier, on March 4, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced the temporary suspension of the online service in Russia and Belarus.
On the same day, using the Booking.com online hotel booking service, it became impossible to book any accommodation within the Russian Federation. The alert when trying to select a property said: “no properties matching your search criteria”. The next day, the Booking.com press service told Izvestiya that the service had temporarily stopped operating in Russia due to the complexity of running the tourist business.
Western countries began to impose sanctions in response to Russia’s conduct of a special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation included demilitarization and denazification, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia.
