Al-Ahly of Egypt crowned the African Super Cup title after winning 6-5 in a penalty shootout over Raja Casablanca, after the regular time ended with a 1-1 draw in Qatar today, Wednesday.
Hamid Haddad advanced to Raja in the 12th minute after receiving a cross pass from Abdelilah Madkour. Defender Yasser Ibrahim did not improve its handling, as Haddad easily hit goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy.
Substitute Taher Muhammad Taher managed to equalize Al-Ahly in the last minute after a superb cross pass from the other substitute Muhammad Sharif and a header from Muhammad Magdi (Qafsha), which was blocked by the goalkeeper and bounced back to Percy Tau, who passed to Taher to put the last ball in the goal of Anas Al-Zeniti, the Raja goalkeeper.
Al-Ahly continued to chase Real Madrid in the club race that crowned the most international titles between them, after the red team won its twenty-fourth international title with a difference of only two titles behind the royal team.
